Lohri is celebrated on January 13 every year, one day before Makar Sankranti. Although it is the Indian festival but it is primarily celebrated in the Punjab region. It is also called the harvest festival.
The days start getting longer and hotter after lohri. It bids adieu to the winter days. There is great importance of jaggery, gachak, til, revadi, peanuts and popcorn on this festival. People get together and light bonfire on Lohri. They offer til, popcorn and peanuts to bonfire and dance around there.
Lohri has also the great significant for the newly married couples and new born. The family of new born baby organises special party and invites their friends and relatives on this day.
