In 1996, the United Nations proclaimed November 21 as World Television day. On 21 and 22 November 1996, first World Television forum was held, where leading media figures met under the auspices of the United Nations to discuss the growing significance of television in today’s changing world and to consider how they might enhance their mutual cooperation.

In the modern world, television becomes the essential product in the house. The house seems incomplete without television. There are number of channels available on the television, which can watch anyone according to the preferences. News channels, sports, education, entertainment channels are telecasted on television. It provides effective information and knowledge to people of all the age groups.
The United Nations promote not only the physical form of television but also the information which it provides to people. This information further becomes the decision-making and opinion of the people. Television is the way to connect the one corner of the world to the other corner.
