In the do or die match, New Zealand beat India by 8 wickets (33 balls left). India made total 110/7 in 20 overs and New Zealand achieved the target 111/2 in 14.3 overs. New Zealand completely dominate India just like Pakistan had dominated India in the previous match. Ish Sodhi took the wickets of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and became the player of the match.
New Zealand won the toss and decided to bowl first like most of the toss winners are deciding in the T20 World Cup. Both the teams lost their first match against Pakistan and both the teams had wanted to open their account in the T20 World Cup.
Indian team came with the new opening pair Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul. Just like the last match, India’s start was not good. Ishan Kishan gave easy catch to Daryll Mitchell on the bowl of Trent Boult. Then, Rohit Sharma came on 3rd place and he tried to hit on the very first ball. He was lucky as Adam Milne dropped his catch.
KL Rahul hit three boundaries but he too gave catch to Daryll Mitchell on the bowling of Tim Southee. After KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma too couldn’t hit good score and Ish Sodhi dismissed him. Ish Sodhi also sent Virat Kohli to pavilion by getting caught by Trent Boult. After Virat Kohli’s wicket, India’s score was 48/4 in 11th over.
Rishabh Pant and Hardik Pandya added some runs in the score board of India but they couldn’t take the score to another level. Adam Milne clean bolded Rishabh Pant in the 15th over. Hardik Pandya became the victim of Trent Boult’s ball.
In the last over, Ravindra Jadeja made some scores. He scored (26 runs in 19 balls) most runs in the India’s scorecard. India scored total 110 runs by losing 7 wickets in 20 overs.
Ravindra Jadeja (26), Hardik Pandya (23) and KL Rahul (18) made highest scores from India’s side. New Zealand team did very good bowling against India. Trent Boult took 3 wickets, Ish Sodhi 2 wickets, Tim Southee and Adam Milne took 1-1 wickets.
New Zealand came on the ground to achieve the lowest score of 111 with their openers Martin Guptill and captain Kane Williamson. New Zealand’s openers gave good start to the team. Virat Kohli gave first over to Varun Chakarvarthy. Except Jasprit Bumrah no India’s bowler could do impressive bowling.
India took only two wickets of Martin Guptill and Daryll Mitchell and both the wickets has been taken by Jasprit Bumrah. Martin Guptill (20), Daryll Mitchell (49) and Kane Williamson (33) led New Zealand to win.
