Three times national award winning veteran actor Surekha Sikri has died due to cardiac arrest on friday morning. She was 75. She had been unwell for several months. She was suffered from second brain stroke in 2020 and a paralytic stroke in 2018.
Her manager said that She was surrounded by family and her caregivers. The family asks for privacy at this time.
Surekha Sikri achieved national awards in the films Tamas (1988), Mammo (1995) and Baddhai Ho (2018). During her career, She did many roles in movies and tv serials.
She was graduated from National School of Drama in 1971. She made her debut in 1978 from political drama movie Kissa Kursi Ka. In 1989, she was also honoured with Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
Besides movies, she also did many roles in the tv serials like Balika Vadhu, Ek tha Raja Ek thi Rani, Pardes mein hai mera dil, Saat phere. Her character in Balika Vadhu serial was very much admired by the audiences. She played the role of Strict Daadi in that serial.
She was born in Uttar Pradesh. Her father was in the Air force and her mother was teacher. She married Hemant Rege and they have son together, Rahul Sikri.
She was last appeared in the Zoya Akhtar’s directed short film Ghost Stories on Netflix Original along with Janhvi Kapoor and Vijay Verma.
