The legendary sprinter of India Milkha Singh passed away on friday night after battling month long fight with Covid-19. He was tested Covid-19 positive one month ago and was in isolation in his residence Chandigarh. Then, he was admitted in ICU of Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER).
Just 5 days ago, he was lost his wife Nirmal Kaur, 85. She was passed away in the private hospital of Mohali due to Covid-19 pandemic. Milkha Singh was 91 years old. A few days ago, his Covid-19 report was tested negative but on friday night his health again started deteriorating and his oxygen level was dipped.

He had won gold medal in 1956 and 1962 asian games. He won gold medal in 200m, 400m and 4×400m relay race. He also won gold medal in 1958 Commonwealth games. He remains only athlete who won gold medal in asian and commonwealth games.
He is survived by international golfer his son Jeev Milkha Singh and three daughters- Mona Singh, Sonia Singh and Aleeza Grover.
Milkha Singh was born in Gobindpura which is in pakistan now. Half of his 14 siblings had died because of poverty and lack of healthcare facilities. His family is the victim of 1947 partition. Movie has been released on the lifestory of Milkha Singh named- ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ in which Farhan Akhtar had played the role of Milkha Singh. This movie has won a lot of awards.
