Charlotte Sena, a fourth-grade student who recently secured a position as a class officer for the student council, is described as being approximately 4’ 6” tall with blonde hair.
A large-scale search effort is underway for 9-year-old Charlotte Sena, who disappeared during a camping excursion at Moreau Lake State Park in upstate New York. The situation unfolded as Charlotte, accompanied by family and friends, embarked on a bike ride through the park.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul provided details during a news conference, explaining that Charlotte, after cycling with friends, expressed the desire to take one more loop on her own.
Concerns arose when she failed to return after approximately 15 minutes. Charlotte’s parents promptly initiated a search, enlisting the help of fellow campers in neighboring areas.
The last confirmed sighting of the young girl was around 6:15 p.m. as she rode her bike in one of the park’s loops. At 6:45 p.m., her bicycle was discovered in the loop, prompting her mother to contact authorities just two minutes later to report her missing.
An AMBER alert was issued the following morning, signaling the possibility of abduction. Lieutenant Colonel Richard L. Mazzone of the New York State Police mentioned during the news conference that the decision to issue the AMBER alert came after an exhaustive initial search failed to locate Charlotte within the park.
State authorities have been engaged in a comprehensive search effort for over 18 hours, employing various resources such as aviation and underwater rescue teams, bloodhounds, drones, and technology experts to analyze communication within the park at the time of her disappearance.
