Jill Biden, the First Lady of the United States, has received a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, according to an announcement from the White House on Monday. This development comes just days before President Joe Biden, who has tested negative for the virus, is set to attend a Group of 20 summit in India.
Mrs. Biden, aged 72, is currently experiencing mild symptoms. It’s worth noting that she previously contracted COVID-19 in August of the previous year. In contrast, President Biden, who is now 80 years old, last tested positive for the virus in July 2022.

“This evening, the First Lady tested positive for COVID-19. She will remain at their home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware,” her communications director, Elizabeth Alexander said in a statement.
On Monday evening, President Biden made a solo return from Delaware.
“Following the First Lady’s positive test for COVID-19, President Biden was administered a COVID test this evening. The President tested negative. The President will test at a regular cadence this week and monitor for symptoms,” the White House said.

As revealed in his official schedule for the upcoming week, released shortly after the First Lady’s COVID-19 diagnosis announcement, President Biden is slated to journey to New Delhi on Thursday for the G20 summit. His itinerary also includes a flight to Hanoi on Sunday.
President Biden, who is running for re-election in 2024, faces ongoing scrutiny regarding his age, a central concern for many voters.
As the oldest president seeking a second term, some Republicans argue that he may be too elderly for another four years in the White House. However, President Biden’s supporters maintain that he remains physically and mentally fit for the role of President.
