He had started his career in the year 2005 from reality tv show Fame Gurukul. At that time, he was just 18 years old. Arijit Singh has many memories in that show. There was also the time of sorrow for him when Ila Arun scolded him who was the head mistress in the show Fame Gurukul. There is the video in which Ila Arun was scolding him in the show and Arijit Singh had cried a lot at that time. Ila Arun was trying to teach him some lesson about life.
Fame gurukul show was the mix up of Bigg boss and Indian Idol in which not only the singing but the psychology of participants were also used to test. Arijit Singh had given tough competition in the show but he ended up with the sixth position due to less audience votes.

He said to forbes India that his main reason behind performing in the show is to know where I stood and competition is the only way to know this. His another main reason was also to meet Shankar Mahadevan because he was classical singer and Arijit Singh also belonged to classical music.
Arijit Singh said that Shankar Mahadevan had supported him very much not only in the show but also after the show. Mahadevan had also given him work when he was finding for the work.
After that, Arijit Singh made his Bollywood debut from ‘Phir Mohabbat‘ in Murder 2 which was composed by Mithoon. It was recorded in 2009 and released in 2011. He assisted Pritam for sometime and then collaborated with him in 2012.
Year 2013 was the turning point of Arijit’s life when film Aashiqui 2 was released. He had sung many songs in that film like ‘Chahun Main Ya Na‘ and ‘Tum Hi Ho.’ These songs were super hit. Then, Arijit Singh didn’t look back and kept going in the music field. After these songs, he became one of the most important names in the music industry of bollywood.
He has also sung very hit songs in the movie ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil‘. He has sung many award winning songs such as Channa mereya, Zaalima, Gerua, Ae watan, Ae dil hai mushkil, Tera yaar hoon main, Khamoshian, Mast magan, Kalank, Ve maahi and many others.
He made his debut as a music director from Sanya malhotra’s film Pagglait which was released on the netflix last year.
