There is the first solar eclipse of 2021 is on June 10, 2021. According to NASA, people across the northern hemisphere will witness this eclipse on thursday. National Aeronautics and Space Administartion (NASA) describes that solar eclipse is an astronomical phenomenon which occurs when moon moves between Sun and the Earth, casting a shadow on the earth, blocking the light of sun in some areas fully or partially.

This solar eclipse will be ‘annular solar eclipse’ which means moon is too far away from the earth so it appears smaller as compared to sun in the sky. Therefore, when moon will be moving between the center of sun, it will not cover the whole sun and the outer edges of sun will be shining which is also called the Ring of Fire.

NASA said that only a few countries like Northern Russia, Greenland and Canada will witness solar eclipse fully or say ring of fire while the other countries like eastern United States, Alaska and larger parts of North America, Asia, Europe, northern Africa and Caribbean will witness only a partial solar eclipse.

In India, only Ladakh and Arunachal pradesh will see solar eclipse at the time of sunset on thursday. It is scheduled to begin here from 1:42 pm and will end at 6:41 pm. Both Ladakh and Arunachal pradesh can witness it around 6:00 pm.

NASA will stream the solar eclipse live on Nasa.gov/live and on Youtube . The stream will show the partial, not annular, solar eclipse.

NASA also said on their official website that proper precautions should be followed at the time of witnessing solar eclipse. Seeing solar eclipse with the naked eyes can be harmful for the eyes. So, it should be seen with the eclipse glasses. Don’t use normal sunglasses because it doesn’t protect from the eclipse rays. Alternatives of eclipse glasses are pinhole projector and telescope which you can also use for seeing solar eclipse.
