Baisakhi 2024: Baisakhi, also known as Vaisakhi or Vaisakh Sankranti generally falls on April 13 or 14 every year. On this day in 1699, the Khalsa Panth was founded by the tenth and last guru of Sikhs Guru Gobind Singh.

Baisakhi is the festival of sikhs and hindus who celebrate this with full of enthusiasm and zeal. Baisakhi, also known as Vaisakhi or Vaisakh Sankranti generally falls on April 13 or 14 every year. It marks the spring season.

This festival has a great significance for the Sikhs as the Khalsa Panth was founded on this day. This festival is mostly celebrated in the Punjab and Haryana states of India.

This year Baisakhi will be celebrated on Saturday, April 13, 2024. According to Drik Panchang, the Vaisakhi Sankranti moment is at 09:15 pm on April 13.

Baisakhi 2024:- History

On this day in 1699, the Khalsa Panth was founded by the tenth and last guru of Sikhs Guru Gobind Singh. He asked sikhs to come forward to sacrifice themselves for the sikh religion. Those five sikhs who came forward were named later as Panj Pyare.

Baisakhi marks the beginning of new year. However, it is not universally accepted. People wake up early in the morning on this day. Hindus take a holy dip in Ganga while Sikhs take a holy dip in sarovar. Then, they offer prayers to God and seek blessings.

Sikhs visit Gurudwaras and celebrate this festival with much pomp and show. A procession called Nagar Kirtan are held on this day. Nagar Kirtan passes through streets in the morning. Five Khalsa lead the procession who decked up as Panj Pyare.

Baisakhi marks the harvest season. Rabi crop is harvested on this day. People express gratitude towards God for the abundant harvest. Karha Prasad and langar are distributed in the Gurudwaras after the prayers.
