India vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test: India beat Sri Lanka by 238 runs in the 2nd test match at M. Chinnaswamy stadium, Bengaluru. Shreyas Iyer became the player of the match as he hit half-centuries in both the innings. Rishabh Pant became the player of the series.
India vs Sri Lanka 2nd Test: India beat Sri Lanka by 238 runs in the 2nd test match at M. Chinnaswamy stadium, Bengaluru. With this win, India clean sweep the two-match test series as India have already won the 1st test match by an innings and 222 runs.
Shreyas Iyer became the player of the match as he knocked 92 off 98 balls in the first innings and 67 runs in the second innings. Sri Lanka’s captain Dimuth Karunaratne fought a lone battle in the second innings. He made 107 runs and Kusal Mendis also added 54 runs.
Earlier, India’s skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first. India made 252 runs in the first innings with the help of Shreyas Iyer’s 92-run knock. Sri Lanka’s Lasith Embuldeniya and Praveen Jayawickrama picked 3 wickets each. Dhananjaya de Silva took 2 wickets while Suranga Lakmal took 1 wicket. This was the last international match of Suranga Lakmal.
Sri Lanka’s bowlers managed to restrict India at 252 but Lankan batters couldn’t do well. Indian bowlers bowled out the visitors at 109 in the first innings and took the lead of 143 runs. From Sri Lanka’s side, only Angelo Mathews somehow managed to score 43 runs.
India’s seamer Jasprit Bumrah took 5 wickets on the spinner-friendly pitch. He completed his eighth 5 wicket haul. Bumrah finished at 5/24 in 10 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohammed Shami picked two wickets each while Axar Patel took 1 wicket.
In the second innings, India made 303/9d runs and declared the series. Shreyas Iyer (67) hit half century in this innings as well. Rishabh Pant also made good contribution in this innings. He smashed 50 off 31 balls and broke Kapil Dev’s record of fastest test fifty by an Indian.
Sri Lanka’s Praveen Jayawickrama picked 4 wickets and Lasith Embuldeniya picked 3 wickets. Vishwa Fernando and Dhananjaya de Silva took 1 wicket each. India gave a tough target of 447 runs to Sri Lanka to win the match.
Sri Lanka could manage to score only 208 runs and India easily won the match within three days just like the 1st test match. Jasprit Bumrah bowled the dangerous Dimuth Karunaratne. Rishabh Pant stumped the Kusal Mendis on the bowl of Ashwin.
Ravichandran Ashwin picked 4 wickets and Jasprit Bumrah took 3 wickets. Axar Patel took 2 wickets while Ravindra Jadeja took 1 wicket.
