Christopher Nolan Announces ‘The Odyssey’ Film with All-Star Ensemble

Christopher Nolan plans to shoot “The Odyssey” film using new IMAX technology. This project follows his critically acclaimed biopic “Oppenheimer.”

Acclaimed director Christopher Nolan is set to adapt Homer’s epic poem “The Odyssey” into a feature film, scheduled for release on July 17, 2026.

The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, and Charlize Theron.

“The Odyssey” chronicles the perilous 10-year journey of Odysseus as he returns home from the Trojan War, encountering various mythical creatures and challenges along the way.

Nolan plans to shoot the film using new IMAX technology, with production taking place across multiple global locations to capture the epic scope of the narrative.

This project follows Nolan‘s critically acclaimed biopic “Oppenheimer,” which won seven Oscars and grossed nearly $1 billion globally.
