Plot and Performances

Jr NTR’s dual role is one of the film’s highlights, showcasing his strong screen presence and acting skills. However, while his performance is impressive, the narrative doesn’t fully utilize his talent. Saif Ali Khan plays Bhaira, the antagonist, and brings intensity to his role, though his screen time reduces as the movie progresses.

The character of Janhvi Kapoor enters in the second half but has little to contribute, only limited to some scenes and a song. Supporting actors like Prakash Raj and Srikanth have minimal screen time and underdeveloped roles.

Story and Execution

The film’s plot centers around Devara’s transformation from a pirate to a protector, which sets the stage for a conflict with Bhaira. The storyline is predictable and borrows elements from other popular films.

The first half drags with lengthy character introductions and action scenes, while the second half picks up but still lacks depth. The climax leaves the audience with a question, similar to Baahubali: The Beginning, but lacks the same emotional punch.

Technical Aspects

Visually, Devara excels with stunning cinematography by Rathnavelu and decent CGI. Anirudh Ravichander’s background score is effective, but the songs fail to leave a lasting impression, with one being cut from the film altogether.

Conclusion

Devara is a visual spectacle, but its weak writing, underdeveloped characters, and predictable narrative hold it back. Fans of Jr NTR may enjoy his performance, but the film overall doesn’t live up to the immense pre-release hype.
