SM Entertainment disclosed that the K-Pop singer Taeil will no longer be a part of NCT after being implicated in a criminal case related to an alleged sexual offense.
South Korean singer Taeil has parted ways with the K-pop group NCT following accusations of involvement in a sexual crime, as announced by his label, SM Entertainment, on Wednesday.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, SM Entertainment disclosed that the 30-year-old artist, whose real name is Moon Tae-il, will no longer be a part of NCT after being implicated in a criminal case related to an alleged sexual offense. While the details of the accusation were not provided, the agency emphasized the gravity of the situation, leading to the decision that Taeil would cease his activities with the group.
Taeil has not yet made any public statements regarding the allegations. SM Entertainment assured that Taeil is fully cooperating with the ongoing police investigation and promised to release further updates as the case develops.
The Bangbae Police Station in Seoul confirmed that Taeil is under investigation in connection with the alleged sexual crime, according to reports from South Korean media.
Taeil joined NCT, or Neo Culture Technology, when the group debuted in 2016. The band, known for its innovative approach to music that blends pop, R&B, and hip-hop, has gained significant international fame, with various releases making their way onto Billboard charts.
NCT is composed of over two dozen members, divided into multiple subunits such as NCT 127, NCT Dream, and NCT U. Taeil was an active member of NCT 127 before the recent developments.

Last year, on August 15, Taeil was involved in a motorcycle accident in downtown Seoul, which led him to temporarily step back from his activities to focus on his recovery.
K-pop, which originated in South Korea, has evolved into a global cultural phenomenon, with groups like BTS leading the charge in the late 2010s and NCT following suit with their genre-defying music and international appeal.
