Actress Revathy Sampath has accused veteran Malayalam actor Siddique, who also serves as the general secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), of sexual misconduct.
This allegation comes in the aftermath of the Hema Committee Report, which scrutinized the working conditions and sexual exploitation within the Malayalam film industry.

During a recent press interaction, Sampath recounted that the alleged incident took place when she was 21 years old. She shared that Siddique first contacted her through Facebook, using the term “Mole,” a common expression in Kerala for addressing a young girl or daughter.
Sampath elaborated on her experience, stating, “After I completed my Plus Two, I had a horrifying encounter. Siddique sent me messages on Facebook when I was just 21. I had approached him to discuss a film project. Initially, he addressed me as ‘Mole.’ But during our meeting, he sexually abused me. The person he pretends to be now is completely different from the man I encountered back then.”
On Sunday, Siddique resigned from his position as AMMA’s general secretary, with AMMA vice president Jayan Cherthala confirming the news.
The actress went further to label Siddique as a “criminal,” accusing him of both physical and psychological abuse. She remarked, “He assaulted me in every way—physically and mentally. Siddique is nothing short of a criminal. The ordeal left me with severe emotional trauma that even impacted my professional life. No system came to my aid. It took me a long time to find the courage to speak up. After the assault, Siddique acted as if nothing had happened, behaving as though it was a normal occurrence. Everyone around me treated it as if it was something common, like they were all complicit.”
Revathy revealed that she had to flee the scene to protect herself. “I did everything I could to escape. He made me feel powerless, saying there was nothing I could do. I ran, got into an auto-rickshaw, and managed to escape,” she added.

In the meantime, AMMA has responded to the Justice Hema Committee report, which highlights issues of sexual exploitation and poor working conditions in the Malayalam film industry. While AMMA welcomed the report, it dismissed the existence of powerful cliques and casting couch practices in the industry.
Siddique, speaking on behalf of the organization before his resignation, stated, “Having spent four decades in the industry, I can say with confidence that no such power groups exist here. This is a film industry, and such groups simply cannot exist. As for the casting couch, it’s not a reality in our industry. We have no reservations about investigating any crime that may have occurred, and we are committed to bringing any wrongdoers to justice.”
