Sharad Purnima is the harvest festival which marks the end of monsoon and the beginning of winter season. Sharad Purnima is also known as Kojagari Purnima. This is observed on the full moon day of Ashvin month in the Hindu calendar.

This year, Sharad Purnima falls on October 9, 2022 (Sunday). The moonrise will be at 5:58 pm on October 9. The purnima tithi begins at 03:41 am on October 9, 2022 and ends at 02:24 am on October 10, 2022.

Sharad Purnima 2022:- Significance
This is a significant festival of hindus. They celebrate it with full of zeal and enthusiasm. On this day, Radha Krishna, Shiva, Parvati and Lakshmi Narayan are worshipped. Maa Lakshmi (the Goddess of wealth) is also worshipped.
The full moon light of Sharad purnima is considered as powerful and it is believed that the moon beams nourishes body and the soul. So, people worship moon on this day. Kheer (the sweet dish made up of milk, rice and sweet) is also made by the devotees. They keep the kheer under the moon light for the whole night and distribute as prasad on the next morning.
Sharad Purnima 2022:- Celebrations
In India, different states celebrate this festival with different ways. Most of the people keep fast and make a special thali which includes fruits, sweets and dry fruits. Unmarried girls also keep fast to get a suitable groom.
According to the rituals, people wake up early in the morning, bath and wear new clothes. After that, they clean the worship place and perform puja there.
At night, people get together and enjoy the night. Aarti is performed at night and prasad is distributed among the family members. They play games, sing songs under the light of moon. In Gujarat, garba is performed at night under the moon.
