‘It Ends With Us’ trailer features Lily’s romantic moments with Ryle, but hints at the underlying violence with Lily’s poignant line, “But 15 seconds. That’s all it takes to completely change everything.”
The first trailer for “It Ends With Us,” featuring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, offers a glimpse into Lily Bloom’s tumultuous journey through romance and trauma.
Adapted from Colleen Hoover’s acclaimed novel, the film tells the story of Lily Bloom (played by Lively), a woman who triumphs over a traumatic childhood to start afresh in Boston. There, she pursues her dream of opening a flower shop.

Lily’s life takes a turn when she meets the charming neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (played by Baldoni). Their passionate relationship begins to echo the troubling dynamics of her parents’ marriage. Complications arise when Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar), Lily’s first love, reappears, throwing her relationship with Ryle into turmoil. Faced with difficult choices, Lily learns to rely on her own strength to forge her future.

That’s all it takes to completely change everything.” It also flashes back to Lily’s youthful romance with Atlas, culminating in a scene where she asks Ryle, “If one day you had a daughter, what would you say to her if she came to you and she said the person she loved was hurting her?”
Lively’s voiceover concludes the trailer: “As hard as this choice is, we break the pattern, or the pattern breaks us.”
Justin Baldoni also directs the film, with Alex Saks, Jamey Heath, and Christy Hall producing. The cast includes Jenny Slate, Hasan Minhaj, Amy Morton, Alex Neustaedter, and Isabela Ferrer.

In a recent interview with People magazine, Colleen Hoover praised Lively’s performance, describing it as “captivating, stunning, and emotional,” and noting that Lively’s portrayal of Lily Bloom surpassed her expectations.
Originally published in 2016, “It Ends With Us” saw a resurgence in popularity in 2021 thanks to its viral success on TikTok’s “BookTok,” making Hoover the best-selling novelist in the U.S. at the time, with over 20 million copies sold.
The film is set to be released in theaters on August 9.
