Following Shivam Dube’s explosive half-century against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 39th IPL 2024 match on April 23 in Chennai, a former all-rounder has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to consider selecting the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player for the T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

In the same IPL 2024 match against LSG at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Dube’s aggressive batting propelled CSK to a formidable total of 210/4. His achievement of surpassing 1,000 runs for his team in IPL prompted Raina to advocate for his inclusion in the T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
Dube entered the fray against LSG after Mohsin Khan dismissed Ravindra Jadeja. He departed after a blazing innings, contributing 66 runs in just 27 deliveries. Ruturaj Gaikwad also impressed with an unbeaten 108 runs, showcasing a similarly aggressive approach.
As criticism mounts against Hardik Pandya for his lackluster performance with the Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2024, Simon Doull believes Shivam Dube could be an excellent candidate for the T20 World Cup 2024 squad.
Doull remarked, “The way Shivam Dube is batting, he is surpassing Hardik Pandya by a significant margin. It seems he’s also honing his bowling skills in the nets. In terms of Indian team selection, we can’t ignore what helps in winning the tournament.”

He further emphasized, “Currently, Hardik’s form with both bat and ball is lacking. Therefore, Dube seems to have the edge over him.”
