Former WWE star Michael Jones, famously recognized by his wrestling persona Virgil, has tragically passed away at the age of 61. The news was confirmed through a heartfelt post on his verified Instagram account, urging fans to remember him for the person he was.

The post, attributed to Jones’ friends, expressed the sorrow of losing the “Meatsauce God” and “Wrestling Superstar.” Wrestling referee Mark Charles III shared the news on Facebook, revealing that Virgil, also known as Vincent and Soul Train Jones, passed away peacefully in the hospital.
The wrestling community, deeply saddened by the loss, paid homage to Virgil on social media. WWE Hall of Famer Jake Roberts and former WWE superstar Luke Gallows were among those who shared their condolences and memories.
Virgil’s journey in WWE began in the late 1980s as the bodyguard for the “Million Dollar Man,” Ted DiBiase. His iconic rebellion against DiBiase in the 1990s, culminating in Virgil winning the Million Dollar Championship, solidified his status as one of WWE’s most beloved superstars.
While the cause of Virgil’s death has not been disclosed, it is known that he faced health challenges in recent years. In April 2022, he revealed his struggles with two strokes and an early stage of dementia.
