Every year, National Constitution day or Samvidhan Divas is celebrated in India on November 26. This day commemorates the adoption of Constitution of India. The Constituent Assembly adopted the Constitution of India on November 26, 1949 and it came into force on January 26, 1950 which is celebrated as Republic Day.
National Constitution Day 2021:- History
In 2015, the Union Cabinet announced to celebrate November 26 as National Constitution day to promote the ideas and thoughts of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, who was the chairman of the drafting committee of the Constituent Assembly. Dr. Ambedkar was the first law minister of India. In 2015, Prime minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of B.R. Ambedkar’s statue of equality in Mumbai on his 125th birth anniversary. At that time, PM also said to celebrate Constitution day on November 26.
National Constitution Day 2021:- Celebrations
National Constitution day is not a declared holiday but on this day, schools and colleges organise quiz competitions and mock parliamentary debates. Students and teachers also give speech about the constitution.
This year, President Ramnath Kovind, Prime minister Narendra Modi, Vice-president M. Venkaiah Naidu, Speaker Om Birla and other dignitaries celebrate the Constitution day in the Central Hall of the parliament as part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. President and Prime minister address the nation on this occasion.

National Constitution Day 2021:- Significance
India’s Constitution is world’s longest constitution in the world. It has 395 articles in 22 parts and 8 schedules. It covers all the details and descriptions of all the powers of executive, legislative and judiciary. National Constitution day remembers the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and others, who made the Constitution of India.
