Vijay Rupani resigns as Gujarat CM on saturday. He submit his resignation to the Governor Acharya Devvratas in the Raj Bhavan. His resignation comes just one year before the state assembly elections which will be held in December, 2022.
After submitting Resignation, he addressed to media. He said that this is the system of our party to give opportunity to all the party workers. Now new face will continue the development of Gujarat under the leadership of Narendra Modi with new energy and new enthusiasm.
He thanked the PM Narendra Modi, Home minister Amit Shah and the people of Gujarat for giving him opportunity to serve the state for 5 years.
He also said that now whatever responsibility will be given to him by the party, he will work with full of responsibility and energy. He will remain the member of the party. He did not give any clear reason about his resignation.
Vijay Rupani has completed the five years tenure as the CM of Gujarat on August 7, 2021. He was become the 16th CM of Gujarat, following the resignation of Anandiben Patel in 2016. BJP had won an elections under his leadership in the 2017 assembly elections.
He became the second CM of Gujarat after Narendra Modi to complete five years in the office.
Before Vijay Rupani, BS Yediyurappa and Tirath Singh Rawat of BJP had also resigned from the CM post of Karnataka and Uttarakhand respectively.
New CM of Gujarat has not been declared by BJP so far. There are some ministers who can be new CM of Gujarat. Deputy CM Nitin Patel, Agriculture minister RC Faldu, Union ministers Purshottam Rupala and Mansukh Mandaviya are the frontrunners in the race of new CM.
